Mykonos diary

September 29, 2014

‘The sun was setting like a mango sorbet dripping over the horizon, the platinum rolls of the Mediterranean produced the soothing sound of waves thudding the cliff rock below us.’

Richard C. Morais, The Hundred Foot Journey

The beauty of Mykonos is hard to put in words, but I’ll try my best:

I loved the tiny cobble streets, the views of white and blue supremacy, the shops shrieked to dwarf dimensions, the night we spent playing cards with a Catalan couple in an Irish pub listening to a live latino band, while talking in an international language-a mix between many, the sun kissing my skin once again ( I am so clingy of summer! ), the joy of finding Arizona tea ( I am such a fangirl sometimes ), the food ( oh my God, the food! the moussaka! ), the wonderful music Greek people listen to (seriously, they listen to FANTASTIC music), the lazy mornings in bed, perfect for reading, the Anamera Monastery ( so serene and smelling like soap, olive oil and candles), the hitchhiking ( read the previous article for the full story!), the hours spent on the beach eating ice-cream, the many one-hour dips in the Sea, the sunsets, the nice and charming people, the dozens post-cards we bought, the windmills and the smell of perpetual holiday.

The photos do no justice. You’ll have to go there on your own to really see the island’s beauty (please, don’t forget your camera at home like I did!).
